Vipassana Timer

A place to sit.

A quiet, private timer for sitting practice. One gong to begin, three to finish. Silence in between, or a spoken guide.

Anapana, then the body scan

The spoken guide moves in a fixed order. Settling, then anapana. Then the body scan, head to feet, attending to sensation as it arises and passes. Then equanimity, and metta to close. Available on the fifteen, thirty, forty-five, and sixty-minute lengths.

Between the spoken parts there is silence, because that is where the practice happens.

This is not instruction. It assumes you have already been taught, and exists for the mornings afterwards, at home. If you haven't been taught, sit a course first. This app is not the place to start.

No account, no streaks

No account, no tracking, no advertising, no server. The timer needs no network at all, and your practice stays on your own devices. The source is public, so none of that has to be taken on trust.

No streak, no score, no badge, no reminder to come back. Nothing is measured against yesterday. The log is there because it is useful to you, not to keep you here. Edit it, annotate it, delete any of it. End early and only the time you actually sat is recorded.
